“Color of the Wild”

There is an insistence on life in Zhang’s work. Color carries it across the canvas, giving her subjects a presence that asks us to stop and look. A gaze holds our attention. A landscape opens a sense of distance. Throughout Color of the Wild, the natural world becomes a place to encounter courage, tenderness, and the force of being alive.

Her titles make that emotional territory explicit. They speak of companionship through storms, strength offered to a friend, and moments held between people. These are personal gestures within paintings of the wild, suggesting how deeply our experiences shape what we recognize in nature. We bring something of ourselves to these encounters, and the paintings leave room for that recognition.

Zhang has built her practice with the same persistence she brings to her life. Painting between appointments in her wellness practice, she used her earnings to pursue training and continued making space for the work. Her desire to bring joy to others has grown alongside that sustained effort. There is purpose behind the exuberance: a belief that something she creates can matter in another person’s life.

We have come to know that conviction at Naumann Gallery. Across her previous exhibitions, we have watched her grow in confidence and seen visitors form relationships with paintings they would eventually take home. Her third exhibition carries the depth of that shared history. We welcome her return with affection and anticipation, inviting you to spend time with the work and discover where it meets your own experience.
